World Book Day
On Thursday 7th March, students celebrated World Book Day with a special visit from author, Stuart Hill. Stuart Hill has written four books: The Icemark Chronicles: The Cry of the Icemark, Blade of Fire, Last Battle of the Icemark and Prince Of The Icemark.
Our students had the opportunity to participate in a workshop with the famous author, where they had to create their own short stories and really use their imagination! We are celebrating the appreciation and love of both reading and writing with detective fiction as the chosen theme.
The English department arranged different competitions and events throughout and to the lead up to the day. The department launched a Battle-write off for different year groups, Key Stage 3 took part in a Cluedo quotation hunt and students had the chance to redesign their favourite book cover competition.
Pupils in year 7, 8 and 9 enjoyed the experience and understood the importance of World Book Day.
