Students rehearse for production with Belgrade Theatre and Coventry Telegraph
8 students are taking part in a theatre festival to celebrate 50 years of the Coventry Telegraph in collaboration with the Belgrade Theatre, representing the City of Culture. Our students have attended a three day intensive rehearsal over Easter.
The production is called ‘City Final’ and will be performed as a promenade in the old Coventry Evening Telegraph building this July.
In City Final, six groups led by the Belgrade’s Community & Education team invite audiences on a journey back in time to the days when the building was filled with the hustle and bustle of busy newsrooms. Drawing on stories covered by the Coventry Evening Telegraph over the years, a series of short performances will fill multiple floors of the building in a large-scale promenade experience. As well as reliving headlines from across the decades, the show also offers audiences the chance to explore the building itself for one last time before a major redevelopment sees it transformed into a hotel later in the year.
“I am very proud to be directing this piece with the Belgrade and simultaneously seeing our students grow in confidence as the production takes shape.” – Reena Jaisiah, Associate Teacher KS5 Hub.
