September Arrangements – Letter to Parents July 2021
We are extremely proud of the resilience demonstrated by our school community throughout this academic year. Whilst faced with uncertainty regarding national guidance and restrictions we have worked together to ensure our students know that they are not Alone, are not Behind and are Capable of achieving great things. May I take this opportunity to thank you all for your patience and support throughout this turbulent year.
End of Term Arrangements
A reminder that the final day of this term is Wednesday 21st July. Students will be dismissed at 12.30pm. The canteen will stay open until 1.00pm for students to have their lunch before they leave if they so wish.
As you will be aware government guidance regarding schools has recently been announced. The plans below reflect this guidance but they of course could be subject to change depending on how things progress over the summer. If they do change we will contact you.
The first day of the new school year is Wednesday 8th September. However, our new Bridge cohort will be in school on Tuesday 7th September at 8.30am for their transition day. Detailed information regarding this day will be sent to parents of our new Bridge students by Mrs Hayer, Director of the Bridge.
The government has asked us to again undertake Lateral Flow Testing with all students prior to the start of the new academic year. Therefore, we will offer the first of two tests for all students and they will be invited into school on Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th September to self-test and our staff will be on hand to support them. Once their test is completed they will be able to return home. These tests will take place as follows:
Time Monday 6th September Tuesday 7th September
8.30am Year 12 and 13
11.00am Year 11 Year 8
1.30pm Year 10 Year 9
4pm Year 7
The test centre can be accessed via the main school gate and students are not required to wear their school uniform for their first test. A member of staff will direct students to the centre from there. The second test will take place on either Thursday 9th or Friday 10th September during the school day.
On Wednesday 8th September start times and entrance gates for all year groups are detailed in the table below:

Contact tracing and lateral flow testing over the summer break
From 19th July we will no longer be undertaking contact tracing.
From 16 August 2021, children under the age of 18 years old will no longer be required to self-isolate if they are contacted by NHS Test and Trace as a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case. Instead, children will be contacted by NHS Test and Trace, informed they have been in close contact with a positive case and advised to take a PCR test. We would encourage all individuals to take a PCR test if advised to do so.
Lateral flow testing will still be widely available over the summer and kits can be collected either from your local pharmacy or ordered online.
Parents travelling abroad during the summer break should bear in mind the impact on their child’s education which may result from any requirement to quarantine or isolate upon return. Please be mindful that travel regulations can change at anytime. The following link provides further guidance (correct as of July 2021):
