Re-opening for Year 10 and 12 students

Re-opening for Year 10 and 12 students

20th May 2020

Dear Parents/Carers

Re-opening for Year 10 and 12 students

In my recent letter I explained that the government has asked us to re-open and offer some face to face contact for Year 10 and 12 students to support their learning. We do not yet know the date that we will re-open, but we are starting to plan what this provision might look like and the necessary safety measures. Please rest assured that the overriding principle in all of our conversations and planning is to prioritise the safety of staff, students and parents. It would be very helpful at this stage to know how parents are feeling about the possible re-open and any concerns you may have. Please could I ask that all parents of Year 10 and 12 students complete the following brief survey:

The government have advised us that:

– Children classed as extremely vulnerable due to medical conditions should not attend

– Children should not attend it they have symptoms or are self-isolating

– Parents will not be fined if they do not send their child to school.

As soon as we have a sense of parents feelings from the survey and the national picture becomes clearer we will be able to communicate our plans with you in full alongside a timeline for when we are likely to re-open. However, parents will be aware that we, like everyone, await government announcements with interest and things can change fast! I would appreciate a quick turn around on the survey and would ask that if at all possible it is completed by Thursday 21st May at 1pm.

Our provision for students of key workers and vulnerable students will continue after half term as it has done since lockdown began. Year 10 and 12 students that have been accessing this provision are welcome to continue to attend.

If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me

Yours sincerely
