Dear Parent/Carer

I wanted to write to remind you all of the important events coming up in the next few weeks.  We are entering a busy period of the term and so I thought one letter with a clear summary would be helpful.

Friday 29th January: Teacher Training Day

Friday 29th January is planned as one of our Teacher Training Days.  The school site will be closed for vulnerable pupils and there will be no live lessons on that day.  With all that is going on in education, and the constant and rapid changes being announced by the government with such regularity, I hope that parents will understand our need to give staff time to properly plan.

Tuesday 2nd February:  Year 9 Options live Zoom event

On Tuesday 2nd February we will hold a live Zoom event for parents at 5pm and 6pm to explain the process for choosing GCSE options.  You can book into the event here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/year-9-options-evening-tickets-137284101443

 Wednesday 3rd February:  PRIDE Showcase Day for Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12.

On Wednesday 3rd February, students in years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 will not follow their normal timetable of live lessons. Instead you are invited to attend, together with your child, a virtual meeting with your child’s Tutor, Mentor or a member of their Hub.  Assignments will be set for students to work on during the rest of the day.  Parents/carers will be contacted in due course to arrange a suitable appointment time. Year 11 and 13 students will have live lessons as normal on Wednesday 3rd February.

Wednesday 3rd February:  Year 11 & 13 live Zoom events – Exams and Centre Assessed Grades

On Wednesday 3rd February we will hold live Zoom events for parents to explain everything we know about how GCSE and A-level grades will be awarded this summer.  There will be three sessions that parents can attend, one at 10am, one at 4pm and one at 6.30pm. We expect the sessions to last approximately 30 minutes.  Parents will be given the opportunity to ask questions about this. You can book onto one of these sessions via the link here:  https://bit.ly/38yC4hE

If you have any questions about any of these important events please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely

Mr C Jupp
