Confirmed Coronavirus (Covid 19) Case – Parent Letter 14/12/2020
Dear Parents / Carers,
We have been made aware that one of our students in Year 10 has been diagnosed with Coronavirus (COVID-19). This student and other students who have been in close contact have been asked to self-isolate at home. All other students should continue to attend school as normal.
The school is in discussion with, and taking advice from, Public Health England who are contacting and giving guidance to those who have had close interaction with the case regarding self-isolation and what to do if symptoms develop.
I understand that parents may be worried, but following advice from the specialists at PHE, I am assured that there is no need for the school to close.
The Department for Education has set up a helpline for parents should you have any queries or concerns.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that there are simple measures we can all take to reduce the spread of infections, including Coronavirus:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water, for a minimum of 20 seconds especially after using public transport
- If soap and water is unavailable, use alcohol-based hand sanitiser
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
- Catch your cough or sneeze in a tissue. Then bin the tissue, and wash your hands, or use a sanitiser gel.
For the latest information and advice on the virus, go to www.nhs.uk/coronavirus.
We will be closely monitoring the situation at school and will inform you quickly if the advice to us changes.
Mr Chris Jupp
