Transition Day 2015
Thursday, 09 July 2015 10:00

We had a great day on Wednesday when the year 6 pupils who are coming to us in September attended Barr's Hill School for their transition day. They all met their year 7 tutor and made lots of new friends.

Sessions which they enjoyed included learning the ukulele and steel pans in music, mock fight techniques in drama and basketball and trampolining in PE. They also made a 'Wallace and Gromit' style animation in media, burnt chemicals in science, made cupcakes in food technology and competed using ipads in maths.

150701_mhf_0On the hottest day of the year so far, we ran 18 sessions in total for the year 5 classes at these 2 schools on Wednesday.

After a presentation about our '7 for year 7' transition events and a Q+A session, year 5 pupils took part in active French, rocket making and firing, chromatography, rounders and football.

All had a great time and a huge thank-you must go to all our staff who gave up their time for this.

Getting To Know Each Other Morning
Monday, 22 June 2015 15:00

150620_gtk_027 of our new year 7 starting in September braved the rain on Saturday morning to attend the 3rd of our '7 for year 7'.

After half an hour of circle time to make everyone feel comfortable, each pupil then rotated round the 3 workshops in groups, making a pine cone bird feeder, a 'stained glass' flower mobile and a superhero costume with the theme 'Recycle your waste. Recycle yourself for year 7'.
