Student Showcase
Thursday, 22 July 2010 09:29

y7showcaseOn Wednesday morning a group of year 7s got a chance to showcase the work they have done this half term. The pupils have been working on a publishing project in their English lessons which has involved designing their company logos; writing an editorial policy; designing book covers and posters and writing the openings of their new books

The members of staff who attended were really impressed with all of the hard work that the pupils had put in and all the students will be receiving certificates to celebrate all of their brilliant ideas and effort. Well done 7-5!

Murder By Number
Thursday, 22 July 2010 09:16

murderbynumbersWednesday 21st July saw the successful hosting of an event called “Murder by Number”. This combined fun literacy and numeracy puzzles and fifteen Year 5 students from Moseley Primary School took part. The students became detectives for the afternoon, working together to solve the crime of the “cat killer”!

After a series of different activities the crime was solved and the perpetrator secured … all due to some great detective work by the Moseley students…Well done!

The Year 5 students received certificates and even their own pair of min handcuffs!

Thursday, 15 July 2010 09:55

readwithmeThe Year 12 BTEC level 3 Drama students – known as “Stage Frighters” -  recently created a piece of theatre exploring the ”Summer Reading Dip” in an attempt to encourage pupils to read over the summer holidays. Having worked hard to develop and shape the materials the company were ready for performance on the Transition Day for Year 6 pupils. The result?  An entertaining and informative show which we hope will have inspired everyone to keep reading over their summer holidays! You can see photos of the event in our Gallery.

Well done Year 12!

Coventry Telegraph Award Winners
Friday, 09 July 2010 12:04

awardceremony2010The Barr's Hill website has won an award from the Coventry Telegraph School Award 2010 under the category "Best School Newspaper / Website".  Congratulations to everybody who has put their efforts in making the website and the content as award-winning as this.

The following is a report from a number of the students who attended the awards ceremony:

"On Thursday the 8th July we went to the transport museum for the Coventry Telegraph schools awards 2010. Our school was short-listed for the school Newspaper / website award against St. Paul’s Church of England Primary school.

"Firstly, we were offered drinks and received a goody bag each, and then we were seated in the dining area where we ate and all the awards were presented. We had a selection of different pastas, spaghetti Bolognese, or mini pizza’s with salad to choose from.

"Soon after, the awards were given out to each of the categories which were short listed to only two schools in each! Then it came to our category which we were entered for, in which we won. We were then presented with our award."

Nikita, Daisy & Sheelan

The school was awarded a certificate and a £500 bursary.  Well done!
