Exciting opportunities for students – Sports Tour 2018
This week we had an incredible opportunity to go to a Sports Tour in Liddington, Swindon. Whilst we were there we took part in two 3 hour Football sessions with professional Football coaches for the year 7, 8 and 9 football team. We developed our skills and tactics and were able to transfer these to a football games towards the end of the session where the UEFA B Football experts coached us from the side. We were split into four teams and given a team name and played a big tournament where we could showcase the new skills that we had learnt. Team Chelsea were the overall winners.
The tour was a residential tour that ran from Friday to Sunday and we had the luxury of sharing a room with our friends. For some of us this was the highlight! We had three big meals a day and the food was delicious. We were able to help ourselves to an unlimited salad bar and fruit which was for the best after all of the sweets we consumed on the first day.
We also took part in other activities which included, abseiling and aero ball. Aero ball is a sport where you’re on a trampoline and you try and throw the ball in to your opponents goal as many times as you can before the time runs out. We abseiled from 12 foot in the air, this was a true test of our head for heights, some of us were nervous to start with and by the last few go’s we were racing each other to see who could abseil to the floor the quickest. We also hung out at a camp fire for a couple of hours as some people toasted marshmallows and we hung around the camp fire and played games.
Thank you to the P.E. staff for taking us on this fantastic opportunity, we will remember this forever. A big thank you to Miss Lloyd for organising the trip so we could all have the best time.
