I am writing to invite you and your son/daughter to the Barr’s Hill School Post 16 Select Evening on Tuesday 24th January 2017 starting at 6.00pm. This is an extremely important event for both students and parents in determining next steps after Year 11.
We are extremely pleased to launch our most wide ranging and comprehensive Post 16 curriculum for September 2017. This is as a direct result of collaboration across the Futures Trust between Barr’s Hill School and President Kennedy. This formalised relationship means that we are able to offer seventeen A-Level subjects, ranging from traditional subjects such as English Literature, History, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography and Spanish, to popular and successful Humanities and Arts subjects including Sociology, Psychology and Art & Design. We are also extremely pleased to build on and expand our already outstanding provision of Level 3 vocational courses to offer Health and Social Care, Music Technology, and Information Technology in addition to our popular Business, Sport and Applied Science vocational courses.
The Barr’s Hill Post 16 Select Evening will enable you to gather as much advice and guidance about future options as possible. In addition to the welcome talk from the Leadership Team, you will have the opportunity to speak to subject and careers specialists about the options available to your son/daughter.
Prior to the event Year 11 students will receive course information and careers interviews will be taking place during January. This will provide students with a sound awareness of career pathways, employment opportunities, access to Further and Higher Education and apprenticeships. Also included with this letter is the most recent Year 11 Progress Data. We hope that all of this information will allow you to think about the possible options and to make full use of the Post16 Select Evening.
We look forward to welcoming you on Tuesday 24th January 2017 at 6.00pm. If you have any queries regarding the options available for your child prior to the event, please do not hesitate to contact either of us at the school.
