Barr’s Hill Celebrate Success!
On 1 December, Barr’s Hill school held its annual Celebration Evening at the Central Methodist Hall, Coventry. Over 300 guests including students, parents, staff and Governors were in attendance as the success of current and former students was celebrated.
We were delighted to welcome our special guest for the evening, Kare Adenegan. Kare is a ‘Coventry kid’ and a three time Paralympic medalist and two time world championship. Aged 15, Kare represented GB at the Rio Paralympics (4 years ahead of BPA’s projected timetable) and came back with three medals (one silver and two bronze medals) in September 2016. She was inspired to get involved in wheelchair racing after watching athletes with similar disabilities race in the 2012. Kare’s motto is “age is nothing but a number. You can achieve anything if and when you set your mind at it”. Kare held a question and answer session in which many of our students and their siblings had the opportunity to talk to her. There were also many students who were privileged to obtain Kare’s autograph and have a photograph taken with her! Thank you for everything Kare!
The evening also featured superb performances from Ellie O’Brien, Daniela Silva, Iolanda Ercsei and the Drama Club. We were also treated to a number by our outstanding choir. The audience were delighted with all the performances. This was another wonderful evening spent celebrating the continued success of our students – well done to all!
